Quality, fresh Welsh products will be in the spotlight when 13 independent retailers across Mid and North Wales join together for this year’s Welsh Food and Drink Fortnight from August 15 to September 1. The retailers, who run either EuroSpar or Spar stores from Rhos on Sea to Caersws, have been invited by retailing entrepreneur Conrad Davies to join his three stores in Dolgellau, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Pwllheli in promoting the fantastic range of Welsh food and drink products. Together the 13 retailers are responsible for sales of around £4 million of Welsh food and drink products annually and employ around 400

Wine producers have taken the first steps towards re-forming a Welsh Vineyard Association (WVA) to promote the blossoming industry in Wales. Producers from 10 of the 17 vineyards in Wales attended a marketing workshop organised by the Welsh Government at Llanerch Vineyard in the Vale of Glamorgan to discuss plans for the annual Welsh Wine Week from May 25 to June 2. The best food and drink products from across Wales have been recognised at the 11th Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Awards. And this year’s True Taste Champion, Robin Jones of Village Bakery, Coedpoeth, Wrexham, has urged those producers to make the most of their success.
