An entrepreneurial Welsh farming family is continuing its diversification by opening Rhondda’s first farm shop.   Grug Jones, along with her sister Caryl and brother Arwel, run Fforch Farm in the Rhondda, and after successfully launching micro-brewery Cwm Rhondda Ales three years ago, have now opened Cwm Farm Shop.   The shop stocks Welsh-only produce including eggs, milk, chutneys, chocolate, crisps, meat, and vegetables, and also boasts a café, which serves the local products on display. A farming expert is to help people establish agricultural businesses as the Welsh representative of a leading European think-tank.   Einir Davies, age 28, from Machynlleth, will join the New Entrant netWork, known as ‘NEWBIE’. The group’s focus is to support those who start a new farm business or become involved in an existing set up.   She will work within the NEWBIE UK steering group, which is part of a network of nations including the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, France, and Germany.   Their collective role is to focus on innovative support methods such as business incubators, which offer technical advice and training in the farming

Twenty up and coming Welsh food and drink producers will be showcased on the Cywain stand at the Royal Welsh Show – the largest number ever featured by the expanding project.   As part of its assistance for producers Cywain – which supports the development of new markets for growth orientated businesses in the food and drink sector – provides the opportunity to attend events such as the Royal Welsh Show (July 23-26th).   This year’s Royal Welsh Show also marks a 400% increase in the number of producers Cywain is showcasing compared to the project’s stand (65 & 66) in the Food Hall

A dairy farmer’s son with a passion for technology has joined a growing economic development firm’s board.   Tom Allison, from Cardigan in West Wales, joins Menter a Busnes as a non-executive director with vast experience in promoting the use of technology in livestock agriculture.   After graduating with a degree in electronics and applied electrical engineering from Bath University, Tom returned home where he fused his technical skills with a love for farming.     He began visiting agricultural sites across Wales to help farmers use cutting edge technology to improve farm performance including working on milking machine enhancements to improve animal welfare.   His talents earned
