Menter a Busnes joins the fight against plastic

03 December 2018

Recently Menter a Busnes have decided to reduce the amount of plastic that staff use daily.  The decision came following numerous stories in the media and the powerful TV show by Sir David Attenborough, ‘Blue Planet II’ about the plastic pollution in our oceans.

The Aberystwyth office have been piloting a plastic free office in July and August this year, with staff discouraged from using single use plastic bottles, not using plastic cups in events and bringing packed lunches using re-usable boxes such as Tupperware.

Following the pilot, a ‘naked lunch’ was arranged where sandwiches and cakes were ordered from a local cafe and delivered in plastic-free packaging and on re-usable trays.

Alun Jones, Menter a Busnes’ Chief Executive said: “The biggest contribution we can do to reduce plastic waste is not buy it in the first place, and we’re encouraging staff to purchase food without plastic packaging.  We reduced our plastic waste at the Aberystwyth office substantially during the Summer, and the scheme will be rolled out across the whole company from December onwards.”
