The Chief Veterinary Officer for Wales, Christianne Glossop, has said new incidents of bovine TB are at a ten year low as she addressed some of the misconceptions about the disease picture in Wales.

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone declaration (document below) was declared by the Welsh Ministers on 6 December 2016. This means extra biosecurity measures for all poultry and captive birds to protect them from the risk from wild birds. The zone covers the whole of Wales and will remain in place for 30 days (until 6 January 2017).

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths, has outlined a new regionalised response to eliminate bovine TB in Wales as part of the Welsh Government’s refreshed bovine TB Eradication Programme.
