Finance Assistant (temporary)

Farming Connect

 

Farming Connect is a high profile, integrated project which supplies focussed training, support and advice, delivered through a pan-Wales programme of knowledge transfer activities, specialist advice and support for innovation. A key objective is to increase the emphasis on business-focused behaviour, therefore improving profitability, competitiveness and environmental performance of farm, forestry and food businesses in Wales. 

Farming Connect is funded through the Rural Development Plan 2014 - 2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

 

Aim of the Role

To assist the Operations Manager with the day-to-day financial management of the project.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Assist the Operations Manager to facilitate the financial management of the project with clerical and administrative support

  • Process all purchase invoices from contractors

  • Ensure that invoices are received on time for inclusion in the claims process with attention to the defrayment requirements of Welsh Government

  • Enter invoice details onto the company’s Sage Line50 finance system

  • Assist the Finance Department and Operations Manager in the preparation of Farming Connect claims to Welsh Government

  • Collate all the supporting evidence required for the claims whilst paying due attention to the claims’ and Welsh Government’s requirements

  • Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets to facilitate the project’s financial management

  • Work to tight deadlines

Other

  • Ensure standards for quality, customer service, equality and diversity, health and safety and biosecurity are met

  • Accept other reasonable duties and responsibilities as required

  • Represent Menter a Busnes as required

 

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or higher, and/or 2 years’ experience in a relevant field

  • Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, E-mail and the Internet

  • Experience of finance work

  • Experience of a finance software package

  • Able to collate and process relevant documents and invoices correctly

  • Able to input data correctly and keep data in compliance with relevant data protection laws

  • Excellent clerical and administrative skills

  • Good interpersonal skills       

  • Able to be proactive and to drive things forward effectively

  • Able to work to tight deadlines

  • Able to work on his/her own as well as within a team

  • Excellent bilingual communication skills (verbal and written)

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Farming Connect programme
