Cywain Bee will look at ways of increasing the volume of honey produced and processed in Wales. In a recent report commissioned by the Bee Co-operative Project (a project operating in Conwy, Gwynedd, Flintshire and Denbighshire) there was significant evidence that the demand for local honey is not being met by the current available supply.
In order to work towards addressing this demand Cywain Bee will focus on:-
1) Working with landowners and farmers to highlight the importance of creating landscape and habitats that are favorable for honey production as well as identifying new sites for bee hives.
2) The need to provide a mentoring service for established honey producers in order to increase the volume of honey produced.
